Smart Electric Meters – Eco-Win

I’m probably way behind the times, but I just learned that my electric company (PPL) uses smart meters that automatically calculate where my electric use is going. It breaks usage down by lighting, cooling, cooking, food storage, hot water/laundry, and heating. I’m not sure how they do it, but they even break down my gas usage by heating and laundry. (I’m sure if I had a gas stove that would be broken out separately). This gives me control to see how much savings I can create by making changes around my house. Big eco-win!
