pavarotti So, I must say that I am not a huge fan of opera. I can say, however, that I am a huge fan of singing, and of music that moves people to the verge of tears. Pavarotti would certainly do that: and, most often, the person moved to tears was himself! There is nothing like watching him perform the last notes of Nessun Dorma, to the complete rapture and open-heartedness of him and of the crowd. WOW, what a voice … the song translates to: “Nobody shall sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know… No!…No!… On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!… (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!” (And man, does he ever win with those notes …)
