Mason Jars for Freezing – Eco-Win

Submitted by on Sunday, 19 July 2009One Comment

2_mugs6Plastic food storage no more. I just bought two cases of mason jars, one quarts and the other pints. They have wide mouths making it easy to put the food in and take out. Made of tempered glass they withstand both high and low temperatures. I cleared out a cupboard for them and will pull them out for leftovers (for both the frig and freezer) and for when I want to freeze some of the harvest bounty. Eco-Win!

Hurray for an important post! We are increasingly aware that plastics can leach chemicals, but I for one have been rather timid about using my mason jars for the freezer.I have found, however, that they work beautifully. Upon reading this Eco-win,many more of us will benefit!
