Ladysmith Black Mambazo — Video

ladysmithblackmambazo I’m obsessed with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. I had to listen to some of their music for a listening project for my Music of Africa class freshman year of college, and I’ve been addicted ever since. I listen to them when I drive, when I study, when I work – they’re perfect for any occasion. They are an all-male a cappella group from South Africa, and they have a huge message about repression and inhumanity to tell the world. The best part, however, is that it is impossible to miss the joy that they find in their music. You’ve never seen or heard such happiness as you do in these men’s faces. They performed at the Nobel Peace Concert in 1999 and at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in 1993, at the request of recipient Nelson Mandela. I can’t help but fall deep into their voices every time I hear them …
