Deepak Chopra & Chief Seattle – Video
Deepak Chopra says he carries this speech given by Chief Seattle to the President of the United States in September, 1854, with him at all times. Listen to Deepak read the stirring speech in this YouTube video.
Part of the speech reads, “If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them? Every part of this earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every clearing and humming insect is holy in the memory and experience of my people. The sap which courses through the trees carries the memories of the red man. ”
Deepak goes on after reading the speech to discuss our dualistic way of looking at the environment, and how he urges us to see that we are the same as the Earth, and that harming the Earth is the same is harming ourselves, or our own mother.
