A New Twist On The Picnick

Submitted by on Wednesday, 23 September 2009No Comment

topsandMost cities offer a wide array of options when it comes to dining, but very few of them can offer a sustainable food kiosk! Located in the Battery Park area of New York City, Picnick is a mini model of consumer and eco-conscious food service. Not only is their food delicious and well priced, but Picnick sources most of their ingredients from small farms and local businesses. Any global vendors they do business with must meet Fair Trade quotas, or adhere to a socially conscious philosophy.

In conjunction with these green policies, Picnick also serves all their food in disposable take-out containers, with all cutlery, cups, and labels that are biocompostable and biodegradable. Picnick is also setting a great standard for other small businesses, by donating a percentage of all profits to the Battery Conservancy to maintain the Battery Bosque gardens that surround its two idyllic locations on New York Harbor. Picnicking has never been so much fun!
